NABH

Quality Council of India developed National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers with a view to set highest benchmark standards for hospital quality in India. NABH offers accreditation programs for hospital, healthcare organizations, Nursing Homes, Blood Banks, Oral Substitution Therapy Centres, etc.

Application for obtaining NABH Accreditation can be made online or at NABH Secretariat accompanied by required fee.  NABH Accreditation once obtained is valid for a perid of 2 years, after 2 years its continuation is subject to a surveillance during any time within 2 years from the date of issuance of Certificate.

Prior assessment of the organization is necessary before applying for NABH Accreditation. It is necessary that the organization prepare itself in advance by hiring an NABH approved Institution that will make the organization NABH ready, so that when the surveillance team comes, no errors are found and the certificate is awarded easily.

NABH also organizes training programs for the purpose of guiding the organization through the accreditation process. This program can be organized for a single organization as well. NABET, which is also a constituent board of QCI has been delegated with the tasks of organizing training programs and guiding the applicants through the accreditation process.

NATIONAL ACCREDITATION BOARD FOR TESTING AND CALIBRATION LABOURATORIES (NABL) :

NABL is also a constituent board of Quality Control of India. Assessments are done by third party institutions. These assessments must be in conformity with the applicable ISO Standards like, ISO/IEC 17025:2005 – for testing and calibration LABOURatories, ISO 151898:201 – for medical LABOURatories, ISO/IEC 17043:2010 – for proficiency testing, etc.

Accreditation is given only after thorough examination by a Conformity Assessment Body which shall furnish its report and check compliance of various guidelines as applicable on the institution.

This accreditation provides formal recognition to the concerned LABOURatory or testing centers which enhances the good will, value and customer dependency of the organization. It is not compulsory to take such accreditation, but it is advisable.

VALIDITY OF NABL ACCREDITATION:

Once allotted this accreditation is valid for a period of 2 years and is subject to regular surveillance by the CAB, the lab can apply for renewal of the accreditation at least 6 months prior to the date of expiry of the accreditation.
